My
office
is at the Department
of Applied Information Processing where I am working as scientific
assistant since 1992. My main research
interests are in intelligent information systems (as e.g. needed in medical
context) and in data mining.
In 1997 I finished my Ph.D.
thesis building a
diabetes
information system now being used in about 500 clinics and at GPs in
Germany, Switzerland and Austria. One main benefit of the system is a semi-annual
benchmarking
for each clinic comparing treatment outcome of patients with diabetes Typ
1. In 1999 we were able to compare data of nearly 8000 patients treated
at 67 diabetes units.
About 40% of all paediatric diabetes patients
in Germany are documented with the help of our information
system. |
