Conventions in this Thesis

  

Italic

is used for directory and file names, command-line options, dBASE  table names, database fields, values which have been entered in those fields, and words which are emphasized.

Constant width

is used in examples  to show the contents of files or the output from commands, and to indicate environment variables  and keywords  that appear in the normal text.

Constant Italic

is used to indicate variable options  or text which the user is to replace with an actual value.

Constant Bold

is used in examples to show commands or other text which should be typed literally by the user.
