The closest airports are located in Stuttgart and Munich. In addition there are two regional airports situated close to Ulm: A bigger one in Friedrichshafen from where you can reach a large variety of German cities and a smaller one in Augsburg which offers only a small number of scheduled flights to destinations in Germany. From these cities you can easily reach Ulm by train.

By public transportation

Ulm is located at the ICE-track Stuttgart -- Munich and can be reached from most of the larger cities in Germany without changing trains. From the central station you can choose between the two bus lines 3 and 5 that commute to the University about every 10 minutes. They stop at the James-Franck-Ring (about 5 minutes walking distance to the Helmholtzstraße) and at the north and south entrance of the University.

  • From Stuttgart / Munich: Leave the highway A8 at the exit Ulm West. Continue driving on the B10 towards Ulm/Friedrichshafen, then leave at the exit Wissenschaftsstadt-Universität.

    After traveling for about one kilometer, make a left turn to the Universität-Science Park entering the Albert/Einstein-Allee street. Just after 200 meters take another left turn and another one after 20 meters. You are now in the Helmholtzstraße. If you drive towards the end of it, you are located right opposite of the buildings number 18, 20 and 22 of the Faculty of Mathematics and Economics.

    There are various parking lots in the surrounding area within walking distance from the faculty building.

  • From Nuremberg / Würzburg: At the junction Elchingen you have to change from the highway A7 to the highway A8 driving towards Stuttgart. Leave this highway at the exit Ulm West and follow the above explanation on how to reach the Helmholtzstraße 18-22 from there.

  • From Kempten / Memmingen: Leave the highway A7 at the junction Hittistetten driving towards Ulm. Follow the B10 passing through Ulm. Then use the exit Wissenschaftsstadt-Universität and follow the above explanation on how to reach the Helmholtzstraße 18-22 from there.
